Frigate (FF)

FRIGATE (FF)

Lightest class of IN interstellar warship, commanded by a Senior Lieutenant (SLT), in the range of 2000 to 5000 displacement tons.

Frigates are generally assigned to an Area Command (ACOM) and deployed on station one per each Member System and based at that system's IN Station.

Class of IN interstellar warship, commanded by a Captain (CAP).  Medium Carriers are the base warships or tenders for a single Group of IN or IM Pursuit Craft (PC) or System Defense Boats (SDB).

Medium Cruiser (CRM)

MEDIUM CRUISER (CRM)

Class of IN interstellar warship, commanded by a Commander (CDR), in the range of 25,000 to 50,000 displacement tons.  

IN medium cruisers are formed into squadrons (CRURON) and divisions (CRUDIV) and assigned to individual numbered fleets at the regional echelon.

Class of IN interstellar warship, commanded by a Lieutenant Commander (LCR).  Light Carriers are the base warships or tenders for a single Squadron of IN or IM Pursuit Craft (PC) or System Defense Boats (SDB).

Fleet

FLEET

1.  Naval formation commanded by an Admiral (ADM) and normally comprising at least two cruiser or battle divisions (CRUDIV or BATDIV).

There are two (2) Named and five (5) Numbered fleets in the Imperium Navy (IN). 

The two (2) Named Fleets, Main Fleet (IN-MF) and Frontier Fleet (IN-FF), are both nominally based at Admiralty Fleetbase although IN-FF elements are usually dispersed and patrolling in the Outer Provinces and Frontier Protectorates from forward-deployed bases in the Outer Provinces.  IN-MF elements may be found on patrol throughout RI space but only rarely in the Outer Provinces.

The five (5) Numbered Fleets are stationed one (1) per IN regional command or Naval Force.
